About Me
Rose Whitcomb - Music Educator
My name is Rose Whitcomb, and I am a General Music Teacher for grades K-12 at Everett Public Schools (just North of Boston). I play many instruments, including clarinet, piano, and violin, and I love to sing.
In my classroom, I pursue inclusivity and equity in my teaching practices and curriculum. I serve students with behavioral and/or developmental disabilities, and autism, and I also work ELL students. Having an equitable music education program means keeping all students engaged by encouraging artistic expression… a meaningful communication skill that can enhance students’ future music-making and joyful social interaction.
My teaching style is flexible and responsive to my student’s needs. In my lessons, I thrive on creating a consistent routine and structure so my students have fun in my class. Flexibility, versatility, creativity, and high expectations are all important tenants of my teaching philosophy, in order to help all students and artists succeed. Finally, my warmth and sincerity allows me to build relationships and trust with my students that help them want to be in music class.
Musician and educator Rose Whitcomb teaches general music for Everett Public Schools and leads a private instrumental and vocal music studio in the greater Boston area. Originally from the Kingston, NY, nestled in the Hudson Valley and the Catskill Mountains, Rose graduated from Harvard University in 2016 with an A.B. in Music. She has continued her graduate studies in Music Education at Boston University, and is set to graduate in 2023. Rose is a multi-instrumentalist and singer; her instruments include clarinet, piano, guitar, violin, and more. In her teaching, she promotes accessible and inclusive practices in music education, including culturally responsive teaching and student-centered learning.

My curriculum is flexible and applicable to multiple genres of music, while my pedagogy is targeted to fulfill student needs, strengths, and interests.
